What is Shibari and is it Shibari or Kinbaku?
What is Shibari? There seems to be a good deal of confusion on what is and isn’t shibari an even what the word means. Is it the right word? Is it a legitimate usage? Should I use Kinbaku instead?

I was reminded recently about a bottoming class I taught at the start of lockdown 1.0 and as we enter lockdown 3.0 I’m wondering; will I ever feel that confident in my bottoming abilities again? Because right now I certainly don’t. Inactivity, insomnia, naps, furlough, too many snacks, lack of routine and socialisation, have meant that the great intentions I had to use the time at home to tie more with my partner went out the window. Neither of us quite feeling it at any give time. The adage ‘tomorrow never comes’ comes to mind.
Due to the current status of the COVID-19 outbreak we have decided to suspend events at Studio Kokoro indefinitely. We will be reviewing the situation and updating you as things progress. Please see our Newsletter and COVID-19 pages for more updates and to be alerted when the situation changes. Thank you to everyone who's supported us at the studio, we hope to have more news for you all soon.
During the current COVID-19 situation we're reviewing the situation with the studio on a daily basis. To stay up to date with our latest information please subscribe to our Newsletter; we'll be putting out our latest information on that. We have also created a COVID-19 page which we are endeavouring to keep up to date with helpful information.
We've chosen the studio's location as somewhere people can get to no matter where they're from. You can use direct train or bus services from Nottingham and surrounding areas. The studio is only a few minutes walk from the bus and train services coming to Mansfield making it really easy to get to even if you don't drive or aren't right on the doorstep.
This is a quick video showing the progress of the studio during it's transformation into the space you see today. We've come a long way. Many thanks to everyone who's helped us to get this far. We couldn't have done it without you!
We'd like to give a huge thank you to everyone involved in the opening of studio Kokoro. So many people, old friends and new have contributed to making it a possibility.
