It is with deep sadness that we announce the closure of Studio Kokoro. Unfortunately our lease is not being renewed due to redevelopment. We will have to shut our doors on the 19th September 2021.

We have already begin looking at other venues and have several options lined up for a potential new home for Studio Kokoro, however, we are going to take some time to see how things develop with COVID before we commit to another space.

The studio has survived through some of the worst conditions including, a brain tumour, chemo and a global pandemic to name only a few and this won’t stop us either. We will find a new home for phase 2 of Kokoro and look forward to welcoming you all there.

We would not have made it this far without the support from our amazing community and we want to thank you for all of the support right from the beginning. It is almost 3 years to the day when we got the keys to the building and lots of you helped out with making the space what it is, painting, stripping wallpaper, painting, sanding, painting, knocking down walls and did we mention painting?!?

Many of you supported from afar too, and we are so proud that our Kokoro community has stretched so far this past year, donating beautiful pieces of art, attending online classes, donating to our lockdown fundraiser, donating with tickets, sending messages of support, we are so grateful for you all.

In the space we saw relationships, friendships and even proposals happen at the studio and these memories will always stay with us.

We know many of you wanted to visit but have not had the opportunity for many reasons, so we will be opening for as many events as we can during September to give you a chance to visit if you haven’t but also to allow some of you to come along and say goodbye. If you want to visit and finances are a barrier for you please let us know and we will try and make it happen.

We will continue with our online offer, online presence and events. We know more than ever that Studio Kokoro is more than a physical space, it is an amazing community and we will survive this.

If you have any memories please share, tag us, or comment below.

Lots of love,

Clover and Dave
